{"id":41,"date":"2011-01-04T18:25:17","date_gmt":"2011-01-04T23:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mightyrobot.com\/loadingreadyrun\/?p=41"},"modified":"2011-01-04T18:25:17","modified_gmt":"2011-01-04T23:25:17","slug":"random-black-ops-thought-treyarch-treyarch-treyarch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mightyrobot.com\/loadingreadyrun\/?p=41","title":{"rendered":"Random Black-Ops Thought: Treyarch&#8230; Treyarch&#8230; Treyarch&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-45\" title=\"koticktreyarch\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mightyrobot.com\/loadingreadyrun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/koticktreyarch.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"316\" \/>So Bobby Kotick was <a href=\"http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2010\/TECH\/gaming.gadgets\/12\/21\/black.ops\/\" target=\"_blank\">chatting with CNN<\/a> during the holiday rush last month, and said this about Treyarch and previous Call of Duty games:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t think Treyarch got their due for how much they contributed in the production and polish to the multiplayer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Well of course you don&#8217;t, silly monkey man!<\/p>\n<p>Given the dust-up between Kotick&#8217;s Activision and former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella (followed by the exodus of Infinity Ward employees to West and Zampella&#8217;s new game studio), Activision wants you to know just who in hell made <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops<\/em>!<\/p>\n<p>Upon starting the game, you cannot interrupt the introductory bzzzt-bzzzt-waaaah splashscreens until just <em>after<\/em> the Treyarch logo has been presented. I get it. Treyarch made this. Infinity Ward didn&#8217;t. After the 50th time, it gets pretty annoying, not because of the few seconds I have to wait, but because it&#8217;s so clearly deliberate.<\/p>\n<p>Whether Treyarch or Activision made this decision, it has a stink of unhealthy rivalries. Given Activision&#8217;s internal quarrelling and related lawsuits, one would think its shareholders would be concerned at how this company manages its studios.
